Did you know Highland cows were originally all black?
These days, most of the Highland cows that are seen roaming Scotland are ginger or brown. However, originally Highland cattle were mostly black. The Victorians liked the ginger cows, so they selectively bred them to the point that ginger became the standard Highland cow color that we see today. You can also find Highland cows in silver, brindle, red, yellow, white, and dun.
